INFINIA was established in 2026 as part of the development of Open Heritage Press, an independent scholarly publishing initiative created to expand the circulation of academic knowledge through open, accessible, and internationally oriented publishing.

The journal forms part of a broader academic and knowledge-dissemination ecosystem developed in association with the Maya Heritage Center, an institution dedicated to research, education, cultural knowledge, international academic cooperation, and the creation of spaces connecting scholars, institutions, and communities. Within this ecosystem, Open Heritage Press serves as the scholarly publishing platform, encompassing academic journals, books, edited volumes, and other research and knowledge-dissemination initiatives.

INFINIA was conceived within this framework as an international and multidisciplinary scholarly journal capable of extending this mission beyond any single field, geographical region, or intellectual tradition. Its establishment responds to the need for rigorous and accessible publication spaces in which research from different disciplines and parts of the world can circulate, intersect, and engage in meaningful intellectual dialogue.

From its foundation, INFINIA has been particularly committed to broadening the geography of scholarly communication. While welcoming contributions from researchers worldwide, the journal seeks to strengthen scholarly exchange across the Global South, encourage South–South academic connections, and facilitate dialogue between emerging and established research environments as part of wider international scholarly collaboration.

This vision is expressed through the principle “Knowledge has no single center” and the journal’s motto, “Where Knowledge Crosses Borders.” Together, they reflect the conviction that scientific and scholarly excellence is strengthened when knowledge can circulate across disciplinary, geographical, linguistic, cultural, and epistemic boundaries.

INFINIA was launched under an Open Access model, providing unrestricted access to published research without Article Processing Charges (APCs) for authors. Its editorial model is founded on rigorous peer review, academic integrity, responsible research practices, Open Science, multilingual and international scholarly communication, and the broad circulation of knowledge.

As part of its institutional development, INFINIA and its broader scholarly ecosystem foster collaborative relationships with organizations committed to the advancement of knowledge, international cooperation, intercultural dialogue, and socially engaged scholarship. The International Foundation for Peace participates as an institutional partner, contributing to this broader framework of academic cooperation and opening opportunities for future collaborative research, publishing, educational, cultural, and knowledge-dissemination initiatives.
